On cloud nine - why is it worth staying happy during exercise

17/08/2020

Are you happy when you can finally move your body? Or do you happen to start exercising to combat negativity? Is it probably difficult for you to get moving because you are overloaded by everyday problems? Anyhow, if you have already started, do not strive to train hard - rather pay attention to preserve your happiness while exercising! What connection is there between moving your body and positivity? In today's blog article you can read about this.

Although scientists have not pointed out explicitly that there is a causal relation between happiness and health, more and more researches emphasize the connection between mental and physical health. Why is it worth being happy? Among others, your immune system will be stronger, chronic illnesses will pass you by, you will be less likely to suffer from diabetes or cardiac diseases or die in a fatal crash and you can expect a longer life. Although as a lifestyle change coach I also do not have a general recipe for happiness, if the common work is successful, thanks to your open thinking and clear heart in the end positivity and harmony can still arrive in your life.

Many researches support the connection between exercise and mental health. According to the experts of positive psychology happiness can lead to a longer, better quality life. It means that you will be more fit, healthier, will consume quality food and become more popular. This process is nothing else than the upward spiral of happiness, so as a result of positive emotions even more positive things will arrive in your life, so you will be happier in general and can experience more quality time.

HAPPY PEOPLE ARE MORE ACTIVE

The 11-year-long research series of Harvard University has proven that the more balanced you are mentally, the more you will move and the more stamina you will have to achieve sports success. In 2015 Sin, Moskowitz and Whooley have pointed out that the more stable you are mentally, the better sleep you will have, the less you will smoke and the less you will depend on medicines.

IF SOMETHING BRINGS ABOUT HAPPINESS, YOU WILL BE ALSO PHYSICALLY MORE ACTIVE THANKS TO THIS

In 2012 Peterson and his colleagues found among people having had a heart surgery that those who received more help from experts and were more often reminded of the beauty of life were 1.7 times more likely to reach their exercise goals.

THE MORE YOU EXERCISE, THE HAPPIER YOU WILL BE?

The role of exercise is of key importance in fighting anxiety and depression. It matters though what type of sports you choose. If it is connected to a free time activity, it is likely to have a positive impact on you mental health, but if it is related to work, not necessarily.

Based on the evidence the activities increasing happiness will help you to exercise more and have an overall positive impact on your health. But what influences you becoming happy the most?

1. YOUR GENETICS: to the greatest extent, 50%. If you are happy, enthusiastic, grateful, hopeful, optimistic and have a good sense of humor, you can be most probably thankful to your genes.

2. YOUR LIFE CIRCUMSTANCES: these contribute only 10% to your happiness. Among them it is worth mentioning your life events, your marital status and material wellness.

3. YOUR EFFORTS: they amount to the remaining 40%. What do you do? What do you think? What goals do you have?

Are you feeling happy? What other tips do you have to make yourself or your significant other happier? Please feel free to share them with me as well - I am happy for all your suggestions!
