Once though you too will find your way home!
Never before have I written about this here on my website, but as time goes by, I am getting more and more proud of where I started from.
Those of you who know me also know that I was born in a small town on the Great Hungarian Plain called Mezőtúr. In the first 15 years of my life I was living here, but still today I very much like to visit my family who live here. If I had not had those first years in my life, today I would surely not be the person I am. I often find that nowadays in Budapest I bump into young people who have had a lifepath similar to mine and after long years of tough work now they can also be proud of what they have accomplished.
In the past few months I was so lucky to attend the concerts of our popular singer, Magdi Rúzsa on two occasions (she also started off from a small town) and there I got to know the song, which has really touched me. Its text goes like "Once though you too will find your way home/The street, the square and the house will call you to rejoin."
Anytime I go back, I find myself again. And I think in our rushing modern world we do need to slow down a bit sometimes and be with the ones, with whom we can really be ourselves. The ones who hold a mirror up to us and bring the best out of us. To quote from another song: "Everyday you can cry another river / Just cry a bridge, too and leave what you had girl / The other side is a thousand times more colourful / There's also a path, but more joyful." Maybe when deep inside a big change has been maturing in us for a long time, then exactly these people who have been with us for a long time will push us forward, so that we could eventually fulfill our dreams.
So just be proud of your roots, because sooner or
later, but you will also find your way home! You agree,too, don't you?
