There are landmark events in the lives of all of us. Events, after which things will never be the same again. But will it be better or worse? Well, it only depends on us. The story of Jason Lester from the United States serves as a great example that there is a way out of even the hardest life situations if we believe in ourselves and have the persistance. Today I would like to introduce you to Jason's story.
The life changing days
Until the age of 12, Jason
was living the life on an average American boy, when all of a sudden everything
changed. He was riding to the videotheque with his bicycle when Jason was hit
by a car. As a result of the accident, his right arm was partially paralyzed
and he suffered other serious injuries as well. After the accident, he spent
months at the rehab in a hospital. During this period he had to face another
tragedy: the person closest to him, his only parent, his father passed away
because of a heart attack. At this point few people thought how bright future
would be awaiting Jason. There were days when it was not even sure that he
would stay alive.
Challenging adolescence after the accident
After all the bad things that happened to him, would you have thought that Jason would give up? Most likely many would have done so, but Jason was not that type of person. He continued playing soccer and baseball and with one healthy arm he became one of the most successful sportsmen of his age. He also started running and became a biathlete - by the age of 18 he became the second best biathlete in the state of Arizona.
A brand new life
In 2004 Lester participated in the Ironman World Championship of Kona. By this time, thanks to the regular swimming trainings he learnt to partially use his right arm again. In 2008 he became the first disabled athlete, who finished the Ultraman World Championship and one year later the first male triathlete, who won the ESPY Award, one of the most significant sports awards in the United States.
Today he is the one helping his fellow mates to never give up. In 2007 he founded the Never Stop Foundation, in the frames of which he is there for both the young and the older to overcome their tough life situations. In his book 'Running on Faith' he tells his own story, how he has found his way with the help of sports and God.
The example of Jason
Jason's life took a positive turn after the loads of difficulties he had to experience during his adolescence. He believed in himself and this faith helped him through all the tough times. Should you ever face hard life situations similar to his one, never forget that there is always a way out, even if in the beginning you can see no light in the end of the tunnel.
