5+1 Books That Moved Me Forward as a Coach, Mentor, and Human Being in 2025
For me, reading is not merely a hobby – it is an inner journey, a dialogue with myself and with the world. In 2025, several books found their way into my hands that did more than spark new thoughts; they reinforced how it is worth living, working, growing – and how it is worth being human.
Below, I have gathered the six books that were among the ones which had the deepest impact on me this year. If you are looking for inspiration, a boost in self-awareness, or simply thoughtful and mature insights, these are well worth exploring.
1. Peter Hollins – Finish What You Start: The Art of Following Through, Taking Action, Executing, & Self-Discipline
Why did it captivate me?
Hollins' book is not a typical "motivational" read. It offers concrete,
psychologically grounded strategies on how to set meaningful goals, how to stay
disciplined, and how to persevere even when initial enthusiasm fades.
My favorite thought:
"The goal is not to exhaust yourself – but to learn along the way."
This book reminded me that goals are not magical: they do not achieve themselves. You have to work for them – intelligently. If you want to take a step forward in your personal development, this is a great place to start.
2. Jamie Kern Lima – Worthy: How to Believe You Are Enough and Transform Your Life
What truly resonated with me?
Jamie Kern Lima's story shows how she built her own business amid uncertainty,
rejection, and deep inner struggles. The book's honest and personal tone
reveals what it looks like when someone stops seeking validation from the
outside and gradually learns to trust their own voice and decisions.
Biggest takeaway:
"You may not see the miracle within yourself – but others do."
This book encourages you not to postpone starting, not to wait for the perfect moment, but to own who you are, your story, and the value you can offer – here and now.
3. Mel Robbins – The "Let Them" Theory
Why do I recommend it?
Robbins presents a simple yet radical idea: we lose an enormous amount of
energy worrying about other people's judgments. The "Let Them" theory invites
you to release other people's opinions and live authentically.
A key sentence for me:
"When you stop trying to please others, you finally start living for yourself."
This book is especially useful if you often feel that others define who you should be.
4. Dr. Gladys McGarey – The Well-Lived Life
What made it special?
McGarey's book explores a holistic approach to life, showing how body, mind,
and soul are deeply interconnected. It avoids superficial wisdom and instead
offers a practical yet profoundly human perspective on health and harmony.
Its greatest gift:
"Life is not about surviving – it's about living fully."
This work reminded me that success is not measured only by results, but also by how you feel along the way.
5. Adam Grant – Hidden Potential
What makes it stand out?
Grant examines the psychology of talent, growth, and learning. He emphasizes
that the real question is often not who has talent, but how that talent is
developed and applied.
A thought that stayed with me:
"Potential is not a secret – it's a matter of action."
This book clearly shows that growth is not about luck, but about conscious, intentional effort.
+1: László Újszászi-Bogár PhD – Győzz meg és uralkodj! (Persuade and Rule)
Why did it make the list?
Despite its provocative title, this book is truly about the art of human
communication, influence, and persuasion. While many books focus on motivation,
this one dives into real-life interactions and helps us understand how people
actually function with one another.
My favorite thought:
"Persuasion is not manipulation – it is authentic connection."
This book helped me better understand how genuine human relationships are built.
Closing Thoughts
Among everything I read in 2025, these books were among the ones that spoke to me most deeply – challenging me, teaching me, and inspiring me. Each illuminated a different aspect of the shared path we walk: self-awareness, courage, perseverance, and the deepening of our relationships.
If any of these titles sparked your interest, I would be happy to share specific insights or practical takeaways from them.
